    how about using that dry erase board in the back to show how you come up with the windage. You saying at 700 youd have to add .1 mils at so many mph... make it make sense!... if my quick call is 5mph, wind is blowing 10 mph (from left), my range/distance is 700 but kestrel is showing an .81 for wind adjustment, what should by quickwind adjustment be? 1.3 mils? i am guessing at this point

    Ridiculous over complication pushing up the price with a ballistic solver of dubious accuracy . The entry level should just be a weather meter and nothing else to break down and links to fail etc etc. Kestrel has had problems with their connectivity . I am really put off buying a new one now .

  • @Bill-y4h
    @Bill-y4h 12 дней назад

    I only want a good weather meter not a ballistic program . Why do they have to ruin a simple easy to use product with over complication . The base model should just be a weather meter nothing else .

      The Kestrel 2000 is the base model. It's a weather meter only

  • @Bill-y4h

    For a long range ballistic app only having a G1 drag function is very poor . Most long range bullets fit a G7 drag function . It sounds to me like the ballistic program is fairly useless . Why can't you just make a good weather meter and leave it at that . The cheaper model does not need useless gimmicks . If your using a bullet that does fit a G1 drag function then it may be ok .

    So wait, the Kestrel is saying to hold at 6.75Mils at 800yards... yet you say the Kestrel is saying to hold at 6.88 mils for 800. You take the shot and make .5 mils needed adjustments on the drop. I just want to make sure when i start Truing i am using the numbers in front of me. Good info

    great video... Question; Cal MV in your Kestrel was 859 yards. your using 765-900 yards and decided on 800 for truing. Why not use a distance between 859-730? With respect to the 15% range.

    Hello ! I have a question about the wind: if the bullet flies through a wind corridor, will it maintain the new direction of flight or will it continue to follow the old direction of flight? after it has completed the sideways drift. I think it will take the old flight direction because it straightens the nose again and so the tail deceleration no longer has a sideways effect. is that right?

    Awesome video....my question....I shoot a 6.5 Creedmoor out to about 950 yards at my local range. If I am not shooting past that distance and past the supersonic range, do I need to true the rifle at all? Thank you...hopefully not a silly question.

    • @KestrelBallistics
      @KestrelBallistics 6 месяцев назад

      It depends. Are you hitting center at 950 yards? Then you don't need to do anything. If you are off high or low, then I would do a calibration.

    • @alexmook6786
      @alexmook6786 6 месяцев назад

      @lBallistics Great advice....I am hitting at 950 yards on a target that is about 3' x 3'...It is hard to see where I am hitting, but we have a strobe that lights up when the steel is hit. I am happy that I can at least hit the target that far out! I am inconsistent with my hits, maybe 2 out of 4 hits at that distance, and I dont know if it is technique, or just not having the rifle trued for consistency.

    This is cool, I love that the Accuracy First guys are still trying to find better solutions for quick wind/hold formulas and its really easy to look at ballistics tables and figure out your own speed drop number and that will give you a quick and easy "close enough" hold out to 400-600yds depending on the B.C. For a good place to start take the G7 BC of your bullet and shift the decimal point one position right or divide your G1 BC by half and that will get you close. Obviously the higher B.C bullets are more efficient so you might want to try 40% of your BC instead of 50%. For example I figured out my "speed drop" for the 77gr SMK with a .177 G7 and a .376 G1 with a 100yd zero and its 1.5 from 170-280 and 1.7 280-480 and then past that it really starts dropping off to basically zero "speed drop" 600yds with that bullet at 2750 is 5.98 MIL of elevation. So my max "speed drop" calculation range is 480yds with that bullet/zero/velocity/sight height. I could split the difference and call it a 1.6 but I was keeping withing the .2 MIL error and even with two speed drop numbers and two ranges that it works that's a super simple data set you can write down and stick inside of a scope cap. If anyone has this program I would love to see how close my "speed drop" number and max effective range are to what the program says they should be.

  • @Rico11b
    @Rico11b 8 месяцев назад

    If you're only going to shoot close range of 400 or less yards, then no you probably don't need it. If you're intending to shoot beyond that range and setting your rifle to a 100 yard zero then yes, you'll need to record and input the conditions. It matters.
